DH is off on a 10 day trip and after a long week at work, I treated myself to a day with no schedule.
Funny when I’m not attached to a ‘to do’ list my mind comes up with funny things. For example:
My spin teacher just broke up with her boyfriend so all of today’s music was around the themes of ‘you don’t need him anymore’ — ‘be strong’ and ‘men suck’
I’ve secretly wanted to get trained to teach spin for years, but haven’t acted on it beyond occasionally checking to see what certification classes are coming up. So today’s break-up soundtrack made me wonder what I’d play to reflect my mood over the last two years.
It would be hard to spin to, but “I will survive” comes to mind.
Any suggestions for a TTC/IF spin soundtrack?
My favorite IF song is probably too slow for spinning, but the runner up might work.
Otherwise, Tori Amos’s Spark is about miscarriage and might be good for an uphill segment.
Thanks for the link to your contest! I’m going to start a list & if I ever do get off my rear and do a spin training I’ll play an IF soundtrack. Those who are in the know will get it…
Well, obviously there is:
Baby All I want for Christmas, is you (although that is somewhat seasonal)
All That She Wants Is (Another) Baby by Ace of Bass
Hold The Line by Toto (for when you are waiting for the single line on a pee stick to be joined by a second).
Three Is A Magic Number by Bob Dorough
And if you are feeling particularly miserable after a failed clomid cycle, The Drugs Don’t Work by The Verve
I could go on …
Excellent suggestions! (Although I am sad that I am going to bed with Ace of Base in my head…)
Someone, I can’t recall who (sorry) posted that Pat Benatar “invincible” was their IF theme song, and I’ve added it to my workout mix. Pretty peppy, and who doesn’t love some good early 80s music?
80s music is the best (and as a frequent spin student I can say I am not the only one who thinks so!)
Green Day’s 21 Guns really touched me not long after my IVF failure. I listened to the words very carefully and it just seemed to scream “fertility treatment failure”! at me. It depressed me but at the same time I couldn’t wait to hear it on the radio…sort of empowering to sing those words really loudly. Maybe it’s not a good song to spin to, but it might be a good song for your “cool off” period.
Well, you saw our music video to ELO’s “Hold on Tight To Your Dream” so you know that’s our theme song for the past 4.5 years of infertility hell. But I don’t think it would be a very good spinning song!
Also perhaps less than ideal for spinning (I’m so helpful), but how about Blondie’s One Way or Another? Maybe there’s a catchy club mix out there somewhere…
Thanks for the great suggestions! All would work for spin songs – just depends on the part of the workout.
LastChance – I happen to love that song, but hate that it has to be your theme song for this awful journey.
Teejay – haven’t been such a Green Day fan, but I’ll give that one another listen.
Bunny – If there’s a remix of that song I’m sure I’ll find it on YouTube. Thanks for the contribution.
